The Orange County Interscholastic Equestrian League “OCIEL” 2016-2017 results are in!  At the June 30, 2017 awards banquet, Whitney Riley and Dream Girl won the following titles:

Kelsey and I are very proud of this dedicated student. Not only does Whitney set an example of achieving her set goals, she encourages the rest of the team to reach for the stars!

March 5, 2017 was the last day of the OCIEL show season, Whitney Riley picked up another OCIEL Reserve Champion Medal and another Reserve Individual Champion award. This brings her OCIEL win total to 1 OCIEL Medal Champion, 3 OCIEL Medal Reserve Champion, 1 Individual Champion and 3 Individual Reserve Champion. This should secure her as the Division Champion! Champion Ribbons Feb 2017

Kylie and Miles

Kylie and Miles. Months ago we had attempted to show this horse and he had a nervous breakdown about 5 seconds down the rail. In consideration of the other exhibitors we asked to be excused before he got around the ring even once.

Kylie not only brought him back to the show ring but entered him in jumping classes at her very first show earning two Reserve Champion ribbons and tons of kudos! I am very proud of this girl and I feel so privileged to share in her journey as she was rewarded for having tons of patience and love for this horse in addition to being a dedicated riding student. It takes a village to fix a broken horse and trust me, this horse has a village.

Kiki and Callum Feb 2017

First show ribbons

Kiki is absolutely one of the nicest girls you will ever meet. This was Kiki’s first show and she was riding a horse that she had only been on once before! That’s not easy to do especially when that horse is much taller than what you are used to riding. She did an amazing job and looked so elegant in the ring. We are all looking forward to seeing just how far this girl can go.

Kelsey, Whitney and Dream Girl Feb 2017

Whitney and Dream Girl aka Ruby. This gorgeous mare is extremely talented and extremely opinionated. Sometimes all go, sometimes all whoa and sometimes so perfectly wonderful but always gorgeous and always talented.

At this show Whitney won a Champion and Reserve Champion award both in the Long Stirrup division.

Whitney has been my student for 4 years and she is an absolute trainer’s dream. She shows up for her lessons looking forward to working hard and perfecting her equestrian skills.  She is so at home on a horse that people often pause as they walk past me just to comment on what a beautiful rider she is. Ruby is a lucky horse to be owned by such a fantastic young lady.

Nika and Callum

Feb 2017

Nika rode two horses at the show. Callum on Sat and Chief on Sunday. She is an elegant rider on every horse she rides.

I call Nika my princess, but she is a fearless princess always ready to do anything we ask of her. Nika earned her share of ribbons including a blue one. We will soon be looking for the perfect horse for this princess.

Delaney and Cristallo

Feb 2017

Delaney Frost on Cristallo aka Cody.

This was the first show for Delaney on her horse Cody. We have no doubt that this partnership of handsome horse and elegant rider will go far.

I have really enjoyed watching the relationship between these two blossom and grow.

I think this horse is teaching this girl as much as I am. He is gaining her trust and teaching her that she already has everything she needs if she reaches deep enough. He has found her inner strength and she has found his inner teddy bear

Whitney Riley wins the OCIEL Medal class and OCIEL division Champion at the Jan horse show

After lots of rain and several rescheduled dates, the January OCIEL #2 and 3 horse shows are now behind us.

Thank you to our students who have been flexible with lesson times while we have three consecutive weekends of horse shows
